London educational and cultural trip : We are ready to go !

22 April - 28 April 2018 - Welcome in London !

The aim of the trip is to enable the students to get to known the UK’s culture and history as well as learn the English language in a professional and native context. Therefore, our students will have daily English lessons from 09:00 – 12:00 at Oxford House College in Oxford Street, whereas in the afternoon, they will be sightseeing around London’s landmarks.

Information about London

— UK’s capital
— Population : about 8 million (the most crowded European city)
— Official language : English, however more than 300 languages are spoken in the city.
— Airport : there are 5 airports among which the biggest and the world’s most crowded is Heathrow.
— Parks and gardens : with its 143 parks and gardens, London is a green city.
— London is divided by the River Thames into two parts : Northern and Southern. Most of London’s landmarks are found in the Northern part.

Transport

The underground ‘Tube’ is the fastest and cheapest mean of transportation. Tourists can buy a 2, 3, 4 or 7 days visitor travel card which can be used in both the tube and the bus.

What to see ?

Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace the Queen’s official royal residence, Trafalgar Square, London Eye, Kensington Palace which used to be Princess Diana’s residence, Madame Tussauds, London Dungeon London spreads over 385 km².

Free museums : British Museum, National History Museum, Science museum, Victoria and Albert museum, Geffrye Museum, National Gallery, Wallace Collection, Sir John Soane’s Museum.
N.B : certain special exhibitions are subject to a fee.

Parks : There are many parks and open spaces in Greater London, England. Green space in central London consists of eight Royal Parks, supplemented by a number of small garden squares scattered throughout the city centre such as Green Park, St James’s Park, Greenwich Park, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, Regent’s Park, Bushy Park, Richmond Park.

Shopping

London has several distinct shopping areas and shopping streets, many of which have their own themes or specialities. Shopping in London is exciting and varied : from luxury goods in Mayfair to quirky finds in Covent Garden, to large shopping centres such as Westfield and famous London department stores including ‘’Harrods’’. You can easily spend an hour, an afternoon or a whole day browsing shops in London.
