Students of MUN Club have participated at ACIMUN’23

Students of our school’s MUN club participated in the American Collegiate Institute Model United Nations, also known as ACIMUN’23 between the dates of 23 and 26th of February held at the İzmir American Collegiate Institute. Over the course of four days, 18 students from our school had the opportunity to participate in numerous positions such as delegates from India or North Korea debating in order to resolve global issues and members of the Press Team as journalist or photographer.

The students actively participated in the discussions during the conference, which was organized in English, and this encouraged them to explore their potential. The ACIMUN’23 team included students who have been attending conferences for several years, as well as students attending their first conference.  All students gained new knowledge and skills.

On the way to the conference, where climate issues were also on the table, Saint Benoît students and the educators accompanying them on the trip travelled by bus, in line with the school’s ecological vision. In this way, they carefully analysed the routes they travelled and experienced many unforgettable memories both on the road and at the stopover points.

Our students who participated in the conference shared their experiences as follows:

First of all, going to a conference outside of Istanbul was a fantastic experience. I’ve been able to improve my skills in writing and meet numerous remarkable people. On top of that,, I  also improved my social skills. It is very valuable for me that my school gave me this opportunity. So I wish we can attend more conferences outside Istanbul.”

Kerem U., 11-D, as a Reporter in the Press Team

“First of all, it was the first conference that ı participated in and I was very excited from the beginning. I hadn’t expected this conference to be this effective on my talking skills but most importantly, it let me get over my fear of talking in public. I also made memories of a lifetime in addition to the friends I’ll never forget. This experience was amazing, far beyond what I expected. I can’t wait to go back.”

Ceren H., 10-D, as a Delegate of India

Wow, what a terrific experience. This is my second conference and this will probably be one of my favorite ones. I’ve had a lot of fun with the DPRK delegation and thanks to our delegates and our chairs this experience just got better than ever it could be. I would love to give my appreciation to the ACIMUN’23 team. They’ve really done it great.”

Erdinç A., 10-B, as a Delegate of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
